Decades Rewind is Back!

Decades Rewind

A good song can invoke even the distant memories to reemerge from the treasure box the mind keeps them in for the intrinsic value they hold.  They remind us of our greatest times that were always accompanied by the backbeat of a killer song.  Music also gets us through the worst of times, comforting us with words that soften the sting of reality. Music is our best friend through everything from the mundane to the most magical moments.

The clincher between me and my husband was our shared love of live music.  We’ve seen so many greats including the Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, The Who, DMB, BB King…and the list goes on.  As the kids got older our funds followed their endeavors and our concert-going was halted.  But pre-COVID we were starting to follow a local group of great musicians who came together as Decades Rewind and produced a spectacular tribute show.  Our first show caught us by surprise with the amazing musical talent serenading the crowds with the best songs from Motown to Blues and Rock to Folk.  The costumes were spot-on and the rewind back in time spoke to the musical tastes of every single person in the crowd.  People were up and dancing, and it was a wonderful fun-filled musical trip down memory lane for everyone there.  Then, you know, COVID shut us down and that was as they say, that.  Or so I thought.

Recently I had the pleasure of speaking with Peter Gatti one of the founding members of the original Decades Rewind on his new project “Jukebox Revolution- All That Music.”  To their fans’ delight, getting the band back together and hitting the stage is something on which they’ve been working.  With recent corporate shows and private events, Peter says the group is so excited to be back on stage with a new show that is familiar to fans with some new twists added in.  With a star-studded and family packed ensemble of vocalists and musicians including Lisa Larkin, Jimmy and Gio DeLisi, Calvin and Coya Jones and others, the music is going to be rock solid.  It is definitely a grouping of some of the best musical talent in our area.

The new show will start with the hits from the 60s and proceed through the 70s and 80s.   There will be a narrator providing powerful context to the evolution of music through an extraordinary time in history. Peter is confident followers will be pumped about the new show.  An eight-piece band, three vocalists, era-specific costumes, electric choreography…this is going to be fun.

“All That Music” is set to open at the Manatee Performing Arts Center on Tuesday, September 10th.  Ticket sales are stellar so far, with over 100 tickets sold on the first day of release.  Peter says they are “glad to be back at MPAC.”  He goes on to say, “we started there in 2015 on a Tuesday and we are restarting the mission on a Tuesday.”

Decades Rewind is back!   For those of us who grew up in the 60s, 70s, and 80s we can attest to the greatness of the music of those times.  We were there.  And we will be at Jukebox Revolution-All That Music to relive the magic.  To get your tickets for the first show of the season, please visit Manatee Performing Arts Center – Artistic Inspiration for Everyone.  And to catch up with Decades Rewind and learn about future performances, please visit Facebook.
